From the train to cable car,
The first cable car connecting Champéry to Planachaux was built in 1939. This was replaced by a new installation in 1987. Two cabins with 125 places now passes through Champéry's sky.
Forget the stairs,... a feature of this installation is that the 2 stations are built at ground floor level, enabling easy access like no other!
The railway station AOMC (Aigle-Ollon-Monthey-Champéry) arrives just next to the departure of the cable car.
The journey makes more than 800 m in altitude, above the village of Champéry, passing over an old coniferous forest to finish at the Croix-de-Culet (1936 m).
During the winter and summer, the cable car, Champéry - Croix-de-Culet, with it's hourly capacity of 1250 people, provides access in less than 6 minutes, to the fabulous area of the Portes du Soleil.
